additional description:
After Rose (Kate Winslet) boards the ship in the movie, we see her displaying authentic paintings by the then barely-known painter, Pablo Picasso. Cal (Billy Zane) comments that the artist will never amount to anything. This is an obvious point of humor in the movie, but it also raises the question as to whether or not these paintings were in fact part of Titanic history. The answer is no.One of the paintings shown in the movie is Picasso's "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon" , which depicts five prostitutes in a brothel. It is currently on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City [N.B. and has been since 1939]. (00:28:34, 01:30:56)
