The painting of dogs playing cards, underneath the forged Monet, that Michael calls “Dogs at Cards” is actually “Poker Sympathy” by Cassius Marcellus (C. M) Coolidge. It is one of a series of paintings he did of Dogs Playing Poker, commissioned in 1903 by Brown & Bigelow to advertise cigars.
